About Astronautically

Welcome!

You’re here probably because you have an interest in space exploration. You get inspired whenever you see clips of the moon landings or rocket launches. You’re also probably wondering when humans will set foot on Mars (or beyond!). That’s awesome! Everyone should have at least some interest in space exploration. After all without it we would not have much of the technology we have today.

Now you might be thinking, space exploration is f***ing awesome, but how the heck does it all work? How do you get something from Earth to Mars or Pluto? What black magic is going on inside a satellite? You also might be thinking, space exploration is complicated. That you will never understand how it all works for some reason.

And your right, space exploration is complicated. But what you didn’t know is that anyone can understand it, and Astronautically is here to make it easier. Astronautically seeks to prove that anyone can learn how space exploration works and that it is not only reserved for the “smart” people.

Here at Astronautically we have a few goals that help guide the content here.

  1. Astronautically exists to fill the gap between childish overly simple lessons about space exploration and the dry, hard to read, technical literature. While each has there merits and intended audiences, they leave out alot of people who want to learn more but might not have the time or patience. Astronautically will teach astronautical engineering in an easy to understand, and entertaining manner, while still diving deep into all aspects of astronautical engineering.
  2. Here at Astronautically, we believe anyone, no matter the background, should be able to learn about the ins and outs of space exploration to some degree. While you could invest the hours to researching space exploration, Astronautically aims to remove that friction that, would deter many from learning. Now, there is a slight caveat to this. I will not be covering stuff like how to do calculus, algebra, etc. Many resources exist out there that do a great job of explaining these topics. I will do my best to make the maths behind the engineering easier to understand. However, like any skill, the more time you put into learning about space exploration, the  better you will understand it.
  3. Astronautically exists not only to help others learn, but myself as well. The best ways to learn something is either to do the thing, or teach it to someone else. Not only will this reinforce my current knowledge on astronautical engineering, but help me build skills in writing, teaching, and web development.

Astronautically will break down the engineering behind space exploration into small steps, so you can make giant leaps in your personal knowledge (see what I did there). Anyone can learn anything they want to learn. I believe an understanding space exploration and technology is useful as our world slowly expands its presence beyond our atmosphere and even as we look to improve and care for our home planet.
